LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple entertainment news outlets are reporting that Utah-born Marie Osmond has signed to replace “The Talk” host Sara Gilbert, who announced last month that she was leaving the show.
TMZ quotes “sources connected to the show” as saying the announcement of Osmond’s hiring will happen on the Tuesday episode. “The Talk” airs at 2 p.m. weekdays on KUTV 2.
TMZ also says some of the other hosts were wishing for a hire who was “younger and edgier.” The current hosts are Eve, 40, Carrie Ann Inaba, 51, Sheryl Underwood, 55, and Sharon Osbourne, 66. Gilbert is 44.
But Ogden-born Osmond, now 59, has guest hosted previously, and ratings spiked, the TMZ article says. In addition, she and brother Donnie had their own syndicated talk show — “Donnie & Marie” — from 1998 to May 2000.
The pair recently announced the end of their Las Vegas review after 11 years, with the final performances scheduled for Nov. 16.
According to “Entertainment Tonight”‘s website, Marie Osmond plans to shuttle between Las Vegas and L.A. until her last show at the Flamingo casino and hotel.
