SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Five people were sent to the hospital after a single-vehicle rollover early Sunday morning.

Salt Lake City Police Lt. Craig Gleason said a call came into dispatchers just after 2 a.m. of a rollover near 3484 W. 900 South.

“It took awhile for officers to locate the car as it had gone off the road near 3484 West 900 South and into a wooded area,” Gleason said.

“Once we found the vehicle, it originally appeared as though we were dealing with fatalities due to the severity of the accident. The vehicle had rolled several times and some of the victims were pinned under the vehicle.”

All of the victims were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Gleason said it was a “Grace of God situation,” considering the severity of the damage to the car and the fact that none of the victims are in danger of losing their lives.

Gleason said they have no clear explanation for why the vehicle left the road, but there is no physical evidence of drugs or alcohol.

“It would appear they were certainly going too fast,” Gleason said. “But investigators will have to turn skid and damage into miles per hour.

“We are just glad that everyone is as well,” Gleason said.

The ages and genders of the victims were not disclosed. But, Gleason did say they all appeared to be young adults.
