TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 31, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two semi trailers traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 in Tooele County Sunday night were blown onto their sides by wind gusts up to 60 mph.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the first incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. at milepost 79 when a semi attached to a 53-foot trailer hauling mail was blown over. The driver had minor injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Mountain West Medical Center in Tooele.
The semi blocked both eastbound lanes of I-80, but Royce said traffic was directed around the incident using the emergency lane.
Royce said there were no details immediately available on the second semi that blew over, but no other cars were involved in either incident, and the incidents were not related.
