LEHI, Utah, April 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A male student was removed from Lehi Junior High School Wednesday morning after bringing a gun to school.

The incident occurred at the school at 700 Cedar Hollow Road, Alpine School District spokesman David Stephenson told Gephardt Daily.

The student had the weapon in a backpack and told other students about it, Stephenson said.

Those students immediately informed school administrators and they were able to locate the student and he was removed from school.

The student did not threaten anyone with the firearm.

Stephenson added: “We would add that we have made it a point to train our students that ‘if you see or hear something, say something.’ We are grateful to those students who helped get this situation taken care of immediately.”

The investigation into the incident is underway and it’s not clear at this time what the consequences will be for the student.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
