SWAT team responds to West Jordan after armed suspect refuses to surrender

WEST JORDAN, Utah, March 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A SWAT team responded to a West Jordan neighborhood Monday after an armed suspect in a trailer park refused to surrender to police.

“We were trying to apprehend an arson suspect from last night,” Sgt. J.C. Holt, WJPD, told Gephardt Daily. “He was carrying a handgun.”

The incident began at about 2:30 p.m. in the area of 8430 S. 3900 West, on Country Squire Drive.

“We are working through the problem,” Holt said at 4 p.m. “The situation in ongoing.”

Drivers are being asked to stay clear of the area. Holt said some area residents are sheltering in place and others have been evacuated.
