Target shooting sparks wildfire on Stansbury Island in Tooele County

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, June 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Target shooting in dry vegetation sparked a wildfire Sunday on Stansbury Island, officials said.

“It may be hard to see from a distance, but this is the potential danger when target shooting into dry vegetation,” the North Tooele Fire District stated on social media.

No injuries have been reported, and no structures are threatened, fire officials said.

Fire crews from Grantsville, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands also responded, the post says.
