SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 10 (UPI) — Seventeen Utah Republicans have formed Carly Fiorina’s Utah leadership team, pledging their support for the candidate who is polling near the bottom of the GOP field.

The team, co-chaired by Utah State Senate President Wayne Niederhauser, includes several Utah state lawmakers who have pledged to “help build a grass-roots network of support in Utah” for Fiorina.

Niederhauser said in a statement: “(Fiorina’s) track record of results is beyond impressive, in stark contrast to our current administration, which cowers when faced with a challenge.”

KSL reports the announcement came Thursday.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, previously announced his support for Jeb Bush. Sen. Marco Rubio counts U.S. Reps. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, and Mia Love, R-Utah, among his supporters, as well as Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes and Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox.
