Residents escape Holladay house fire; home a ‘potential complete loss’

HOLLADAY, Utah, July 9, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — All residents of a Holladay home safely escaped a fire Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters responded about 3 p.m. to a two-alarm residential fire in the vicinity of 2800 E. 5000 South, according to the Unified Fire Authority.

“Crews are in a defensive attack,” UFA said in tweet issued at 3:27 p.m.

Fire officials later reported that all residents had made it out of the home safely. A damage estimate was unknown Sunday, though UFA called the home a “potential complete loss.”

“Crews continue to fight from the outside,” UFA tweeted at 5:09 p.m

Fire crews encountered heavy smoke and flames upon arrival at home, prompting a call for additional resources.

A ladder truck was used to fight the fire from above and extinguish the blaze, UFA stated in a tweet at 7:45 p.m.
