MILLCREEK, Utah, Feb. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified police are on the scene of a possible homicide in Millcreek Monday afternoon.

Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Gray told Gephardt Daily officials are investigating the incident in the area of 1280 E. 3770 South.

“Just after 2 p.m. we received a call from a neighbor saying there was a male outside who had blood on his hands, who was screaming that someone had been injured,” Gray said. “Officers entered the home where they found a deceased male. So at this time we are investigating this as if it were a homicide; we definitely know the death is suspicious and currently our investigators have just now begun this investigation.”

The man with the bloody hands has been taken into custody and he is being interviewed. “When officers arrived, given what they had been told by the neighbors, they wanted to talk to him, he was uncooperative so my understanding is there was a bit of a scuffle with him before they were able to take him into custody.” At this time the man is being considered a person of interest, not a suspect.

Gray said it’s thought both men lived in the residence, though their relationship is not clear. It does not appear anyone else was in the home at the time of the incident.

The deceased man’s identity has not been released pending notification of family members. The cause of death has also yet to be revealed.

3770 South is likely to be shut down for four to five hours while investigators complete their work at the scene, Gray said.

Police are canvasing the area and anyone that has any additional information is asked to call the UPD on 801-743-7000.

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as information is made available.
