WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 29, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — One driver was killed and a second was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Bangerter Highway Sunday night.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash happened after a Hyundai Tucson was reported driving recklessly and swerving between lanes at a high rate of speed.

For an unknown reason, the Hyundai collided with six other vehicles that were stopped at a traffic light at 4100 South and Bangerter.

“Following the impact, the Hyundai caught fire,” the UHP statement said. “A driver from one of the other vehicles managed to pull the driver and sole occupant out of the Hyundai.”

The Hyundai driver was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where they died from their injuries.

The driver of a Toyota Highlander, who needed to be extricated from their vehicle, was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, the UHP said.

“All other drivers and passengers involved were evaluated and released from medical care at the scene.”
