Update: Man critically injured when car plows into In-N-Out Burger in southern Utah passes away

WASHINGTON CITY, Utah, Dec. 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who was inside an In-N-Out Burger when a car plowed into it Saturday afternoon in Washington City has died, officials said.

The deceased is Antonio Mendoza of Las Vegas, Nevada, said a news release Sunday afternoon from Washington City Police Department.

Officers responded to the In-N-Out restaurant at 832 W. Telegraph St. in Washington City at approximately 2:45 p.m. on reports of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the parking lot.

“It was reported that the vehicle, after the first accident, accelerated and collided into the restaurant dining room, and struck patrons inside,” the news release said. “There was a total of seven patients. Four were transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center and three self-transported to the same hospital.”

Mendoza subsequently passed away due to injuries sustained from the accident.

“We send our condolences to the Mendoza family, and hope for a full recovery to the others involved,” the news release said.

The restaurant sustained significant damage and remains closed pending repairs to the structure.

The investigation is still ongoing, and officials ask that any witnesses make contact with police at 435-986-1515 if they have not already provided a statement.
