MAGNA, Utah, July 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect is in custody in the shooting death of a woman killed while visiting a home in Magna earlier this month.

On Friday, Unified Police officers took 46-year-old Todd Elwin Hull into custody in connection with the July 16 shooting of Paige Espinoza, 25, of Murray.

According to information from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Bureau, Hull has admitted to being the driver in the drive-by shooting that targeted a specific room in a residence near 8300 West Mix Ave., Magna. Espinoza was in that room, on the southeast side of the residence.

One of three others in the home called 911 and summoned police.

Unified Police officials have said the house has been connected to gang activity in the past, but they could not confirm whether the shooting Espinoza died in was gang-related.

In addition to first-degree murder, Hull is also being investigated on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and violation of parole or probation, both third-degree felonies, and the manufacture or possession of burglary tools, a misdemeanor.
