WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 8, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old woman is in serious condition after a rebar stake crashed through the front passenger windshield of a Toyota Corolla she was in Monday afternoon, and impaled her through the chest.

The car was northbound on State Route 180 near milepost 18, a Utah Highway Patrol statement says.

“A concrete form stake came over the concrete barrier, struck the hood of the Toyota, and went through the windshield. The concrete stake impaled the front passenger in the chest.

“It is unknown whether the stake was lost from a vehicle immediately preceding the impact, or if it was previous road debris that was struck and kicked up.”

Life Flight responded, but ultimately the teen was transported by ground ambulance.

“The Utah Highway Patrol is looking for any information regarding the origin of the debris,” the release says.

“If you were traveling in the area and have information that can assist troopers in this investigation, please contact the non-emergency Summit County Dispatch line at 435-615-3600.”
