MILLCREEK, Utah, April 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Transit Authority is cautioning commuters to expect delays throughout Friday night because of a lightning strike that downed power lines near the Millcreek Trax station at about 6:30 p.m.

“A lightning strike that downed power lines near the Millcreek TRAX station will likely have an impact on commuters throughout the evening Friday,” UTA tweeted.

“3300 South was closed in both directions in the area of the Millcreek station while crews from Rocky Mountain Power worked to determine whether the downed power lines were still live.”

A TRAX update at 7:49 p.m. said, “Expect delays on NB and SB trains due to power outages throughout the night. Bus bridge remains in place from Murray Central to Central Pointe.”

Just before 8 p.m., UTA tweeted that major delays should be expected northbound from Woods Cross to Ogden and southbound from Orem to Provo.

Commuters are advised to check for the latest updates at Ride UTA on Twitter.
