PROVO, Utah, March 21, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The legal branch of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has been getting reports of illegal spearfishing on the Provo River.

“We love seeing people get outdoors, but it’s vital to keep our local fisheries protected by following the rules,” the agency’s news release says.

“Spearfishing is strictly prohibited on the Provo River and the Provo River Delta. Spearfishing is only allowed in specific waterbodies across the state, each with its own set of rules. Check the Fishing guidebook for regulations specific to each waterbody.”

Anyone with information regarding wildlife or other natural resource crimes is encouraged to report it to the Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement in one of the following ways:

  • UTiP Hotline: 800-662-3337
