WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, March 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City police are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect who stole a guitar from a disabled veteran.

The police department posted on both Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday evening that the woman stole a six-string guitar from the veteran. The post did not say where the theft took place.

The full post reads: “SHE WANTS TO ROCK? Maybe that’s why this suspect stole a guitar from a disabled veteran? No matter what drove her to snatch the six-string, help us send a message to this wanna be rock star that next time, she should stick to the air guitar. Does stealing someone’s property strike the wrong chord with you? Then, please share her photo and if you recognize her, let us know.”

In surveillance photos, the woman has dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, and is wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes, and is holding a cellphone and what appears to be a black baseball cap.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call WVCPD at 801-840-4000 or send police a private message on Facebook; you can remain anonymous.

“Thanks to all of you who step up to help identify suspects,” the post concludes. “You truly are instrumental in fighting crime in WVC.”
