WOODS CROSS, Utah, Nov. 6, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who suffered critical injuries in a Woods Cross house fire Monday night has died.

The victim is Eric Bardall, 62.

Fire crews were dispatched to the scene, near 1375 South and 1100 West, just before 9 p.m., according to information from the South Davis Metro Fire Department.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire conditions. Bardall, who was alone in the residence, was located with some difficulty due to the large amount of personal belongings in the house. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition after lifesaving measures were performed at the scene. Bardall died at the hospital.

The fire took 30 minutes to bring under control. Besides the large amount of materials in the residence to feed the fire, another obstacle for firefighters was that the hydrant in front of the residence was dry.

The residence was a total loss, with a value estimated at $225,000. The cause and circumstances of the fire are still under investigation. Bardall’s death also will be investigated.

  1. EXCUSE ME ?? Did I just read that the fire hydrant in front of the house was DRY? How the HELL does that happen ? What if this were a family with small children? The masses would be furious! A life is a life. Mr. Bardall deserves the same respect and outrage. I for one demand answers from the responsible parties. To the family and friends of Mr Bardall I wish them comfort at this very sad time.
