Worker critically injured in Mapleton trench collapse

MAPLETON, Utah, June 12, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 24-year-old man was critically injured Thursday evening after becoming buried while working on a residential project in Mapleton, authorities said.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded at about 7:25 p.m. June 11 to a trench rescue incident near Charlotte Court, according to the Mapleton Police Department.

First responders arrived to find the man buried in the trench. Rescue crews worked to stabilize the excavation site and safely extricate him.

The man was evaluated at the scene and transported by helicopter to a local hospital. The air medical crew reported he was in critical condition, according to police.
