WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 1, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in West Valley City are looking for a suspect or suspects in the brutal assault of a man found unconscious Sunday morning outside an apartment complex at 3051 W. 3500 South.
Investigators were called to the Aspen Village Apartments at about 7 a.m. When they arrived, they found a trail of blood between two buildings, and discovered a man beaten so badly they could not determine the extent of his injuries. They could only say he had been savagely assaulted.
The man was rushed to the hospital extremely critical condition.
Officers told Gephardt Daily the victim was found face down outside the apartments by a neighbor after witnesses heard fighting early Sunday morning.
Witnesses also saw a dark colored SUV leaving the area. A possible connection is being investigated.
The victim is a resident of the apartments.
His identity is currently unknown, and no weapon has been recovered.
West Valley City Police Department tweeted Sunday afternoon the victim remains in critical condition, but has stabilized. No suspect or motive has been identified.
Investigators are interviewing known witnesses and working to locate any additional witnesses.
