INTERVIEW: Utah Man Defeats Deadly Skin Cancer
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH- April 1, 2015 – (Gephardt Daily)
After enduring two bouts of melanoma, 67-year old Larry Hegland, of Farr West, Utah had to make a choice.
He could continue fighting, against extremely long odds, (only 1 in 10 melanoma patients survive) or he could get his affairs in order and simply give up.
At low tide emotionally and riddled with pain, Hegland said he’d decided to call it quits, when doctors at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah offered him another alternative – a chance to take part in a clinical trial.
Now, just a few months later, Hegland has been told he is cancer free, words he thought he would never hear.
