KENOSHA , Wis., Sept. 4 (UPI) — Some 89,000 pounds of Johnsonville pork sausage patty products have been recalled after consumers found small metal pieces in the meat, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said.

Kenosha Beef International is recalling 24-ounce cartons and 13.5-pound cases of Johnsonville Grillers, cheddar cheese and bacon flavor. The Class I recall means there is “reasonable probability that eating the food will cause health problems or death.” No injuries have been reported.

“While we believe the risk to be minimal, we take no chances when it comes to protecting our consumers’ health and safety. However, because there’s the potential of this affected product being in the market, the voluntary recall was initiated,” the company said.

Products subject to the recall are marked “EST. 425B” and expire by Dec. 29. They were shipped to stores in Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Wisconsin.
