BETHESDA, Md., Nov. 16 (UPI) — Washington could be the site of a Paris-style terrorist attack, a new Internet video by an Iraq-based Islamic State affiliate threatened Monday.

The video, six minutes long, features a man identified as “Al Ghareeb the Algerian,” who says nations of the coalition against IS should expect attacks similar to those Friday in Paris. At least 129 people died in shootings and bombings for which IS claimed responsibility.

The city of Washington is specifically mentioned as a target in the video, which was distributed on IS-related Internet sites and purportedly produced by Wilayat Kirkuk, an IS offshoot based in Iraq’s Salahuddin province.

In the video, the speaker, facing the camera, says, “If we brought down France in its homeland, in Paris, then we swear.. we will attack America in its heartland, in Washington,” the SITE Intel Group of Bethesda, Md., which tracks online activity of Islamic terrorist organizations, reported.

The video’s veracity has not yet been confirmed, and it has not prompted comment from U.S. officials.
