Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Docked in Jamaica Catches Fire
FALMOUTH, Jamaica, July 22 (UPI) — A Royal Caribbean cruise ship moored at a port in Falmouth, Jamaica, caught fire Wednesday morning.
The fire aboard the Freedom of the Seas started in the engine room and was later put out. No injures were reported.
Passengers documented the incident on social media. Engineer Bob Baldwin said that passengers were asked to move toward the ship’s lifeboat but were not told to evacuate.
The ship is based at Port Canaveral, Fla., where it departed Sunday for a seven-night trip. The Freedom of the Seas can carry over 3,600 passengers and about 1,300 crew.
