NEW ORLEANS, March 26 (UPI) — The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is offering a $13,000 reward for information about a video showing a goat being decapitated.

The SPCA said the video, which came to light March 24, shows a group of five young men tie a string around a goat’s neck in what appears to be a back yard and hang the animal over a child-sized plastic pool.

One of the men then uses a machete or sword to decapitate the goat while the others cheer.

The SPCA said it received a tip Wednesday alleging the video was shot in a back yard near Tulane University and investigators with the SPCA, New Orleans police and campus police investigated the claim. Investigators did not find any evidence linking the site to the video, however.

Michael Strecker, spokesman for Tulane University, said the school is “fully investigating this matter.”

“At this time we have no evidence to suggest that this video involves or is related to any member of the Tulane community. We urge anyone who has any information regarding this video to contact the Tulane Police Department,” Strecker said.

The SPCA shared a still image from the video, but said the full 12-second clip is being withheld due to its graphic nature.

The New Orleans Police Department said it is not conducting an official investigation into the video at this time.
