Bryce Harper Leads NL All-Star Balloting
May 27, 2015 (The Sports Network) — Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper leads the National League in All-Star balloting after an early season offensive surge.
Harper, who was leading the NL in home runs, RBI and on-base percentage, had more than 1.116 million votes in balloting released by Major League Baseball on Wednesday.
Three St. Louis Cardinals players led their positions in voting, including third baseman Matt Carpenter, who was second in overall voting behind Harper. The others were shortstop Jhonny Peralta and catcher Yadier Molina.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and Miami Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon, who leads the majors in hitting, were the other leading vote getters at their positions.
Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday and Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton were second and third in voting for outfielders. Holliday was third in overall voting behind Harper and Carpenter.
This year’s All-Star Game is scheduled for July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
