BALTIMORE, April 30 (UPI) — If Wednesday’s silent baseball game between the Orioles and the White Sox wasn’t weird enough, Caleb Joseph added his own dash of strange.

The catcher decided the lack of spectators wasn’t a problem when he started signing autographs for imaginary fans along the the third baseline before the game. He then tipped his cap to the adoring and invisible crowd.

The Orioles home of Camden Yards was closed Wednesday due to the unrest in the city following the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died after being arrested by the Baltimore Police Department.

The game went on and Joseph wasn’t willing to let the lack of crowds excuse a lack of energy.

Baltimore won the game 8-2.
