DODGE CITY, Kan., March 14 (UPI) — At least 20 people were injured when an Amtrak train derailed about 20 miles west of Dodge City, Kan., on Monday.

The train heading from Los Angeles to Chicago carried 128 passengers and 14 crew members. Injured passengers were taken to hospitals in Dodge City and Garden City. The track on which the train derailed is owned and maintained by BNSF Railway.

The nine-car, two-locomotive train derailed shortly after midnight local time.

Other passengers were taken to a nearby recreation center in Cimarron where Amtrak was expected provide alternate transportation to their final destination.
