EMERY COUNTY, Utah, April 9, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A huge avalanche Tuesday in Huntington Canyon blocked Huntington Creek for awhile.

The Emery County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that the slide came down Day Canyon near the Chute Campsite.

“A large amount of snow and debris came off the burn scar from the Seeley Fire of 2012. Today’s slide was approximately 200 yards wide and between 30 and 40 feet deep,” the post said.

Heavy equipment was dispatched, “but the creek managed to break through the slide on its own.”

The slide did not affect State Route 31, officials said.
