SAN FRANCISCO, June 28 (UPI) — The Islamic State has released a video praising the massacre at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., and calling for similar attacks to be carried out in San Francisco and Las Vegas.
The video shows several San Francisco landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Financial District and Powell Street — locations in which a voiceover in the video encourages attacks. The San Francisco Police Department and FBI on Monday said they are aware of the video, adding that there are no credible threats.
The video was released over the weekend — when San Francisco was celebrating the Pride 2016 LGBT parade. The video praises Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen, who killed 49 people in the June 12 onslaught and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State — also identified as Daesh, ISIS and ISIL.
The man who speaks in the video is introduced as an Islamic State member by the name of Abu Ismail al-Amriki — which translates to “The American.” He encourages attacks similar to the Orlando massacre to occur in San Francisco, and the video suggests an attack to be carried out in Las Vegas by showing part of the city’s Caesars Palace.
“Do you think you are at war with a small group of mujahideen in Iraq, Syria, Libya and other places? You are sadly mistaken. And do you think you will defeat us by bombing our homes with your drones and F-16s?” Amriki says. “O America, indeed you are at war with … sincere Muslims around the world who yearn and desire to see the honor of Islam returned. And O America, indeed you are at war with the people who wish to be killed and slain for the sake of Allah … you are at war with the holy Koran.”
As the video shows an image of the Golden Gate Bridge, Amriki says: “Arise, O Muslims and kill the unbelievers in their own homes.”
