ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas, Nov. 16 (UPI) — A Texas man was arrested after six bodies were discovered this weekend at a campsite near Dallas, authorities said.

The bodies were found Sunday on private property in Anderson County, officials said. Among the dead was a young child.

The suspect in the case was identified by police as William Hudson, who investigators said owns property near the site where the bodies were found. The victims were members of two families.

Police said the victims were visiting the area and staying in a trailer that belonged to one of those killed. Five males and one female were killed. Officials said one woman, though, survived.

Investigators said four of the bodies had been dumped in a pond behind Hudson’s property and the other two were found inside the trailer.

Authorities were sent to the campsite area after receiving a report of a shooting Sunday morning. The area is located about 100 miles southeast of Dallas.

Hudson, 33, was arrested and jailed on suspicion of murder. He is being held on $2.5 million bail, KYVX-TV reported Monday.

Authorities are still trying to determine a motive in what the sheriff’s office said is the worst murder case in Anderson County’s history.

The Texas Rangers, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas Police Department are involved in the investigation.
