WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov 21, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A rally held Thursday on the west lawn of the United States Capitol brought together voices from Congress and the world of comedy, united in a common goal: the ouster of President Donald Trump.
The event was hosted by FLARE, the self-described anti-fascist, non-violent collective, whose stated year-long mission is “the impeachment, conviction and removal of Pres. Donald Trump.”
Under overcast skies, a crowd of several hundred gathered for the “Remove the Regime” demonstration, headlined by Texas Democrat Congressman Al Green and comedian Cliff Cash, a strident critic of the Trump administration, known for his sharp Southern wit and determination to promote “protesting with a punchline.”

Cash took the stage and told attendees that the serious message delivered in Thursday’s rally could also use a touch of levity.
Cash also reminded them that the upcoming rally being held in D.C. on Saturday could use their help in bolstering crowd size.
“Bring a friend, bring a family member,” the socially conscious North Carolina comic said. “Protests work better when people laugh together and act together.”
Cash added, “Nothing you’re doing is more important than this. Nothing.”
Congressman Green also addressed the crowd. Green reaffirmed his intent to file articles of impeachment against Trump and to do so quickly.
“There will be articles of impeachment filed before the Christmas break,” Green said. “This I pledge to you.”

Green said he intends to introduce the motion as a “privileged resolution,” which would require the House of Representatives to take up the measure. Asked why he was moving ahead despite a lack of solid Democratic support, Green said, “The Constitution does not have a scintilla of a word in it suggesting we must wait for a majority to act.”
Organizers told attendees the week’s events were only the beginning and encouraged continued participation through December and beyond.
Both Cash and Green seemed to leave listeners with a common message, that the clock is ticking.
