WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) — The UPI/CVoter daily presidential tracking poll released Monday shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by 3.85 percentage points as the number of those seeking a third option has increased in the past week.
The online poll shows Clinton with 49.37 percent to Trump’s 45.52 in polling through Saturday. Among respondents, 5.12 percent selected “others.” “Others” in the poll are defined as respondents who decline to pick either Clinton or Trump.
One day earlier, the Democratic nominee led by 4.12 percentage points over the Republican nominee. Over the course of seven days, the poll’s full sample size, Clinton has lost .54 percentage points while Trump has lost 1.38. Those selecting “other” increased nearly 2 percentage points from 3.19.
Clinton is about 1.5 percentage points from her high in the past six weeks of 50.84 on Aug. 16. Trump’s greatest percentage was 49.18 on July 24.
The UPI/CVoter online tracking poll surveys about 200 people each day, leading to a sample size of roughly 1,400 people during any seven-day span.
Because the poll is conducted online and individuals self-select to participate, a margin of error cannot be calculated. The poll has a credibility interval of 3 percentage points. This seven-day span includes data collected from Aug. 28-Sept. 3 when 1,791 registered voters were surveyed. Of them, 1,242 identified themselves as likely voters.
