CLEARFIELD, Utah, April 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have detained three people and are looking for a fourth following a shooting Sunday afternoon near a Clearfield apartment complex.

Clearfield police say emergency dispatchers received reports at 1:30 p.m. about shots fired in the area of the Clearfield Plaza Apartments, 530 S. State St.

Officers “responded to the area and located evidence that shots were fired,” Clearfield police said in a news release.

Officers also located a vehicle with “several bullet holes,” as well as witnesses who saw people leaving the area after the shooting, the release says.

“Shortly thereafter, officers detained three individuals [who] reportedly were involved in the incident,” according to the news release.

A fourth person, believed to be Richard Tehero, 44, fled in a black 2017 GMC Sierra with Utah license plate No. 6X8CG, police said.

Police say Tehero was seen driving the truck and may have been shot in the foot. He was last seen wearing a black and white striped hoodie, according to police.

The release says “detectives would like to check [Tehero’s] welfare and interview him,” adding that he is known to carry firearms.

“If anyone sees the truck listed or Richard Tehero, please call 911,” the news release says.

“Detectives will continue to investigate this incident and arrests may be made once witnesses and the other detained persons are interviewed.”

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
