• 7-11 is the world’s largest operator, franchiser and licencor of convenience stores, with more than 50,000 outlets. This number surpassed the previous record-holder, McDonald’s Corporation in 2007, by approximately 1,000 retail stores.
• 7-11 stores are in 15 countries, with the largest markets being Japan, the U.S., Thailand, Republic of Korea and Taiwan.
• The name of the stores was changed to 7-11 in 1946 to reflect their hours of operation—7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• The Slurpee was introduced in 1967 and the Big Gulp in 1980.
• 7-11 is mentioned in various songs including the Beyonce song “Drunk in Love”, first single of her fifth eponymous album “Beyonce”. Lyrics include: “Boy I’m drinking, park it in my lot, 7/11”
