June 23 (UPI) — Johnny Depp is at the center of a new controversy after asking at the Glastonbury Music Festival in Somerset, England, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

“This is going to be in the press, and it will be horrible,” the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star said to a crowd at the event Thursday.

The comments were aimed at President Donald Trump, whom Depp had brought up earlier asking, “Can we bring Trump here?”

The crowd responded “No,” and the 54-year-old said “I think he needs help.”

“I want to clarify, I’m not an actor, I lie for a living,” Depp continued as the crowd roared. “However it’s been a while and maybe it’s time.”

The Secret Service is aware of Depp’s comments, CNN reported. “For security reasons, we cannot discuss specifically nor in general terms the means and methods of how we perform our protective responsibilities,” the organization said in a statement.

Depp’s comments come after comedian Kathy Griffin was investigated by the Secret Service for the controversial anti-Trump photo she released featuring herself holding up a bloody decapitated head that resembled the president.

Depp had previously portrayed Trump as part of Funny or Die biopic based on the hotel-mogul’s 1987 best-selling business advice book, “The Art of the Deal.”
