Layton Teen Dead In I-15 Rollover In Box Elder County

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, June 11, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old Layton woman has died after a rollover accident Friday night on I-15 in Box Elder County.

Investigators for the Utah Highway Patrol said Alexis McCashland was driving south of the Honeyville exit at milepost 370 at about 8 p.m. when she lost control of her car.

Witnesses told UHP officers that McCashland’s vehicle drifted to the side of the road before she appeared to overcorrect, causing the vehicle to roll across the median and into the northbound lane of I-15.

McCashland suffered fatal injuries, despite wearing a seat belt, according to investigator.

According to a Utah Highway Patrol statement, the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
