UINTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are saying a “medical event” likely caused a 23-year-old man to crash his truck into a Vernal home Tuesday afternoon.

A news release on Facebook from Uintah County Sheriff’s Office said the home sustained “serious damage” in the incident.

“The man was driving north on Vernal Avenue when it appears he suffered a medical event causing him to run off the road,” the news release said. “The truck ran over a mailbox, through some small trees, narrowly missing a power pole and guy wires, before it crashed through a fence and into the back of a house.”

The man, who is from Vernal, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. No one was inside the home when it was struck.

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
