Anti-Bullying Activist Lizzie Velasquez Debuts Her Documentary at SXSW
Prepare to meet the next role model, Lizzie Velasquez.
The 26-year-old just debuted her documentary “A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story” at the SXSW Festival, and boy, did it move everyone’s hearts.
Velasquez, the 26-year-old who was born with a incredibly rare condition that has no name. She has no body fat, will never gain any weight and is partially blind.
When Velasquez was searching YouTube for some music and came across a video called “THE WORLD’S UGLIEST WOMAN.” She then found out the video was made of her.
Even though the video’s cruel comments were painfully shocking and unimaginable she somehow managed to turn all that into something positive.
How she was able to turn this around is truly remarkable. Velasquez however was able to bring herself up and bring national attention to millions of viewers through her moving TED Talk.
She now has this new documentary which has received outstanding reviews and a standing ovation.
Velasquez also has her own YouTube channel with over 319,000 subscribers that get a chance to see what it is like to be Lizzie. She posts many different topics and opens the discussions around the globe on bullying.
Velasquez chooses to be positive and has even said that she thanks the person who posted “THE WORLD’S UGLIEST WOMAN,” because if it was not for that video, she would not have the path she is on now to change the way we think. She is grateful that it changed everything.
