Utah DNR notified after ‘uninvited guest’ helps self to catnip at Wasatch County apartment

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, June 24, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Wasatch County Sheriff shared some candid photos snapped by a renter at the Todd Hollow Apartments, in Hideout.

A wandering bobcat, it seems, “apparently heard great things about the cat tree and catnip,” the WCSO statement says.

“After making itself comfortable, inspecting the accommodations, and declining to pay rent, it left on its own.

“Thankfully, nobody was injured. The Utah DNR was notified.”

The sheriff’s office noted that “in Wasatch County, even the wildlife likes a cozy apartment now and then!”

And the WCSO shared one more joke.

“WILDLIFE VISITORS WELCOME… BUT PLEASE USE THE FRONT DOOR!”

Realistically, how many opportunities does nature provide for a bobcat to play with a velour batting ball, adorned with a jingle bell and suspended from a multi-level cat tree? So why resist? Photo: Wasatch County Sheriff
