Domino’s to Let Customers Order Pizza Using Emoji
The restaurant announced Tuesday, that beginning May 20, customers will be able to order pizza with just a tweet to @Dominos — even one as simple as a single pizza slice emoji. It will be the first of its kind to incorporate Twitter into the order-placing process on a regular basis, USA Today reports.
“It’s the epitome of convenience,” CEO Patrick Doyle told the news site in a phone interview. “We’ve got this down to a five-second exchange.”
In order to properly use the new feature, hungry customers must link their Twitter account to their Domino’s Pizza Profile online first. Once a “usual” is chosen, then they can simply tweet the emoji and it will be delivered to their door in no time, The Verge says.
Domino’s is excited about tweet-a-pizza, as the company continues to evolve into a social-media pioneer.
Doyle says that the pizza giant has spent tens of millions of dollars to expand its technological know-how. The company now has 250 tech employees at its headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to order from us — and this is pretty darned easy,” he said.
