TAYLORSVILLE, UTAH –  August 24, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Police are looking for a suspect after an aggravated car jacking and burglary in Taylorsville.

Unified Police said the victim left her apartment at 1520 W. Brookbury Wy. (4720 S.) at around 7:55 a.m. to take her child to school.  When she returned home about 15 minutes later, she noticed her child’s bedroom window had been broken, but the screen was still in place.  She entered her home and immediately observed the suspect come out of her bathroom and run toward the front door.  As he ran by her he demanded the keys to her car.  The victim refused and the suspect attacked her, forcefully taking her keys from her hand.

The victim called 911 for help.  When she looked outside after calling UPD, she noticed her car was gone.  The victim thankfully was not injured.  Officers discovered that the suspect had removed the screen, broken out the window, entered the home and then replaced the screen on the window.  During the course of entering the home, it appears the suspect cut himself, leaving blood on the broken glass and on the victim’s arm.  Samples of the blood were collected as evidence.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30’s, short brown hair, no shirt, wearing a “tool belt” and blue jeans. The car is a white 2011 Ford Escape 4 door SUV, UT license # D944XT.

The Unified Police Department is requesting the assistance of the public in locating this stolen vehicle and the suspect involved in this violent crime.  Please contact the Unified Police Department dispatch center at 801-743-7000 with any information.  Attached is a picture of a similar vehicle.
