HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Jan. 31, 2016 — (Gephardt Daily) — The 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was held Saturday night. The awards honor the best performances in film and television from the past year.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Idris Elba, and Alicia Vikander won the top acting awards and the newspaper drama, “Spotlight,” took home the Best Ensemble Cast Award.
On the television side, the casts of “Orange is the New Black” and “Downton Abbey” won ensemble awards. Jeffrey Tambor picked up a trophy for Best Actor in a Comedy for “Transparent” and Uzo Aduba was awarded Best Actress in a Comedy for “Orange is the New Black.”
Kevin Spacey won Best Actor in a Drama for “House of Cards,” and ” How to Get Away with Murder’s” Viola Davis took home the Best Actress in a Drama award. Idris Elba won a second award, for best actor in a limited series for his role on “Luther.”
