OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews from multiple fire departments battled a structure fire Monday that apparently began in a vehicle parked in a carport and quickly spread to the house.
Crews were dispatched to 636 Chester St. at 10:59 a.m., Deputy Fire Chief Eric Bauman said in a news release.
Heavy fire and smoke were coming from a vehicle in a carport, and the fire had spread to the carport and the attached home.
Everyone had already safely evacuated the residence when firefighters arrived, and Bauman said crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
Four people were displaced as a result of the fire. There were no injuries to the residents or to firefighters.
The cause of the fire is not yet determined and is being investigated by the office of the Fire Marshal.
Bauman said damage to the structure is estimated at $60,000.
Eighteen firefighters from Ogden City and Northview Fire Departments responded with one ladder truck, three engines, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, one Deputy Fire Marshal and the Battalion Chief, according to the news release.
