MAGNA, Utah, Feb. 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 59-year-old man critically injured after he was hit by a vehicle in Magna last month has passed away.

The deceased is Robert Dewey, of Magna, the Unified Police Department said in a tweet Tuesday afternoon.

Dewey died Saturday due to complications from the injuries he sustained in the accident on Jan. 30, the tweet said.

Dewey was crossing Main Street in Magna, in or near a crosswalk, when he was struck just after 7:30 p.m., Lt. Bill Robertson told Gephardt Daily.

Dewey was transported to the Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition with head trauma.

“The vehicle was traveling eastbound, we think at posted speeds,” Robertson said.

The male driver stayed at the scene, and showed no signs of impairment, Robertson said.
