OGDEN, Utah, May 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are hoping to combat graffiti and vandalism at Ogden parks by offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Police say graffiti and vandalism in public parks — particularly to the restrooms — “are hurting our city.”
“Ogden city has worked to build and maintain a comfortable and inviting environment throughout Ogden parks,” the Ogden City Police Department said on social media. “When a park restroom is tagged or vandalized, it’s not just a blight on all those efforts, it’s often accompanied by permanent physical damage to these spaces.
“Repairing damage done to restrooms due to vandalism not only hampers the function of these public places but is often costly and time consuming. We are asking you to help us combat the alarming uptick in tagging and vandalism throughout Ogden City parks.”
Ogden is offering a $1,000 reward “for any information leading to prosecution or arrest of any individual involved in graffiti or vandalism throughout Ogden City parks, specifically pertaining to public restrooms.”
“We need your eyes and ears to help combat graffiti and vandalism in our beloved parks,” the post says. “If you live near or frequent our parks and notice any suspicious activity, graffiti, or vandalism, we urge you to reach out. If you see a person involved in suspicious activity, please do not attempt to confront, or apprehend them. Call the police and we will respond. If it is an emergency, please call 911.”
Anyone with information about graffiti or vandalism at Ogden parks is asked to call police at 801-629-8228.
“Your vigilance and cooperation can play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and safety of our community spaces,” the post says. “Together, let’s keep Ogden clean and vibrant for everyone to enjoy!”
