DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 22, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — One juvenile is dead and another has been arrested after a fatal shooting Sunday.
Officers were dispatched to the scene of a reported family fight involving the discharge of a firearm in northwest Duchesne County, the County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Sunday night.
“Upon arriving on scene deputies located one male juvenile outside the residence and another male juvenile was located deceased inside the residence from a gunshot wound to the upper body.”
No other family members were inside the home at the time of the incident. Detectives were called and began an investigation.
“One male juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Duchesne County Sheriff‘s Office for questioning before being transported to the Split Mountain Juvenile Detention Center in Vernal.”
The sheriff’s office said because of the sensitive nature of the incident and “out of respect for the family” the name of the suspect and the decedent will not be released at this time. “The case is currently being investigated as a homicide.”
