“Cake”

CakeApril 21, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Jennifer Aniston plays Claire Simmons whose physical pain is evident in the scars that line her body and the way she carries herself, wincing with each tentative step.

She’s no good at hiding her emotional pain either. Blunt to the point of searing insult, Claire’s anger seethes out of her with nearly every interaction. She has driven away her husband, her friends – even her chronic-pain support group has kicked her out.

When one of her former group commits suicide, it prompts her in pursuing questions about the death of a woman she barely knew.

Claire explores the boundaries between life and death, abandonment and heartbreak, danger and salvation.

If you had any question about Jennifer Aniston’s acting ability, you need to see this film. It’s her best work to date and the film is incredibly engaging.

The film deserves a B+. Its rated R.

“Taken 3”

Taken 3Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered and he is framed for it.

Consumed with rage, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police.

Again, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.

Considering that this is the third film in the series, it’s not to bad. There are the cliché chases, fight scenes and catch phrases… but then Liam Neeson is one tough man.

Overall I liked “Taken 3” because it gives you exactly what you’d expect.

It gets a C+ and is rated PG-13.
