LOS ANGELES, CLAIFORNIA – September 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Jackie Collins, who authored such novels as “Hollywood Wives” and “Hollywood Husbands,” has died of breast cancer at the age of 77 in her Los Angeles home. The British-born writer was the sister of actress Joan Collins.

A statement from her family read, “It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one-of-a-kind mother.” The statement continued, “She was a true inspiration, a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words,”

In the four decades she has been writing, Collins wrote 32 novels, all of which have appeared on The New York Times bestsellers list.  In total, her books have sold over 500 million copies and have been translated into 40 languages. Eight of her novels have been adapted for the screen, either as films or television mini-series.

The family statement also said Collins lived “a wonderfully full life”, adored by family, friends and readers.

Collins was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer six-and-a-half years ago, according to US celebrity magazine People.
