Dustin Diamond Found Not Guilty of Felony Reckless Endangerment for Stabbing Incident
MILWAUKEE, May 30 (UPI) — Former child actor Dustin Diamond — who was charged with stabbing a man during a 2014 bar brawl — has been found not guilty of felony reckless endangerment.
However, the Wisconsin jury who heard Diamond’s three-day trial did find him guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and of disorderly conduct — both misdemeanors, ABC News reported early Saturday.
The 38-year-old Saved By the Bell alum testified he was only trying to protect his girlfriend Amanda Schutz, who was in the midst of an altercation with several pub patrons. Diamond said he showed the people the pocket knife to get them to back off and claimed Casey Smet, the man who was hurt with the knife, injured himself when he grabbed Diamond.
Smet, 25, admitted during the trial he couldn’t confirm it was Diamond who stabbed him.
“We’re happy with the results, we think that justice has been done,” Diamond’s attorney Thomas Alberti said. “The jury did a good job.”
