‘Game of Thrones’ leads with 32 Emmy Award nominations

July 16 (UPI) — The epic fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” earned a leading 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations on Tuesday.

The most nominated show in TV history for a single season — which recently wrapped its eighth and final season — is up for Best Drama and its cast dominated the acting categories, with nominations for Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldeau, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Gwendoline Christie, Alfie Allen, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” racked up 19 nods, and “Chernobyl” and “Saturday Night Live” tied with 18 apiece.

“Community” alum Ken Jeong and “The Good Place” star D’Arcy Carden read aloud the names of nominees during a live-streamed ceremony Tuesday.

Winners will be announced at a gala at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 22.

Fox is slated to air the Emmy Awards show, which celebrates excellence in television.
